Camera System
The project of the “Municipal supervisory camera system“ was started in 1996. Financial support was provided by the ministry of interior and by the municipality of Usti nad Labem and starting from 1998 ten security cameras were installed in the center of the city. The costs of the system totaled at 4.5 mil CZK. The camera system monitors public places (parking places, bus stops, squares and other places where many people accumulate). During the project certain kinds of crimi-nal offences disappeared from the monitored places (car burglaries, car robbe-ries). In some cases offenders were prevented from committing offences or the system helped to get evidence against offenders. The camera system is an app-reciated instrument of keeping public order and security of the citizens on the territory of Usti nad Labem.
